Hi there, I’m Debbie, a mom, wife, and travel blogger married to Ricardo. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful life and family.
Just like everyone else, I’ve had many ups and downs. Some of those ups and downs were two business attempts which did not work out. But, we never gave up because we don’t take it as a loss. We either win or learn. In the business attempts, we learned.
Tragedy struck our family in July 2007 when our oldest son was killed in a pedestrian accident. Life has never been the same since. But, we’ve tried to make the best of it because we knew that our son would not want us to have it any other way.
In living my son’s dreams, I returned to college in my late 40’s and studied accounting. I currently work as a part-time accountant. Sometimes I question my choice. Maybe I should’ve studied literature. Don’t get me wrong, I love accounting; but I also love writing – well, I discovered it after my son’s death.
I’ve been married since 1984 to a wonderful man and, besides my angel in heaven, I have a daughter, a son, and a 6-year-old dachshund/chihuahua mix who is the king of our house!
I recently converted my grief diary and journals into a book, Diary of a Grieving Mother’s Heart. My hope is to be able to reach as many grieving parents as possible. If they can relate to my story and find that place of peace that I have, then I am happy.
