Welcome to Traveler Wows!

If you love traveling, great restaurants and learning about other cultures you’ve come to the right place.

Traveling has always been a dream of mine. As a child, I wanted to be an airline attendant just so I could cruise the skies to unlimited destinations.  At the age of 17, I was able to obtain an application for a travel academy. I don’t recall how I obtained it or where. My parents were not thrilled about it and since I was a minor they didn’t sign the parental authorization.

I was able to visit Canada as a teenager though. Then life took a different course – marriage, children – and there didn’t seem to be time for traveling or it wasn’t in our budget. Other than visiting St. Thomas and Jamaica, there were no further trips. There was always a reason to put it off. You know how we sometimes say, “Well, let’s just pay off the car and we’ll take a trip,” or “Let’s wait for the kids to get older,” and blah, blah, blah… we never did it.

Sometimes it takes unfortunate events for us to realize we will not live forever and should not postpone our dreams until this or that occurs because tomorrow is never guaranteed. We need to learn to seize the moment and make things happen. That was our situation. Tragedy struck my family which changed my perspective in life. My oldest son, then 20-years-old, was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident. With this I realized that life is short and I cannot take anything for granted. It doesn’t matter where we stand in life, if it’s our time there’s no stopping it.

My son had always been fascinated with Venice. The “streets of water” as he would say as a child, was a place he wanted to visit. A few months before his death we were watching a documentary on Venice and he commented on how he would, one day, travel to Venice. Unfortunately, he did not live to fulfill that dream.  But I vowed that I would make that trip for him and so it begins.

I hope you enjoy spending time with me and my blog. You’re more than welcome to subscribe. I promise you won’t regret it!

  1. Thank you for sharing your experiences and for reminding us that living life should not be put off for later. Where there’s a will there’s a way!

  2. Sorry to hear you lost your son that must have been a drastic life changing event. I have lost my mom and brother and could even imagine the pain I would feel if I lost my daughter. It is amazing to travel and do what you dream.
